Welcome to the Quartier des lumières!
MACH has developed a creative vision for an entire neighbourhood that will elevate the vibrancy of downtown Montréal. More than simply another construction project, Quartier des lumières will enhance the wellbeing of all those who live in, work in, and visit the district.
The transformation of Quartier des lumières’ 20-acre site will be comprehensive. It will incorporate over 6,000 square meters of parks, a network of luxurious walkways, and green roofs. Office towers and residences will target LEED certification while playgrounds, medical clinics, and markets will support healthy lifestyles. Human-centred design, lively streets, and 40,000 square feet of cultural and public spaces will power a strong sense of connection.
A new light is shining on the edge of Montréal’s city centre.
With over 3,450 residences, including 1,000 affordable homes, Quartier des lumières promises to become a thriving community made stronger and more vibrant through its spirit of inclusion. A mix of condominiums for sale and flats for rent will ensure there are options to suit a variety of incomes and lifestyles.
Quartier des lumières will hum with economic activity thanks to a smart mix of corporate office towers, co-working ateliers for start-ups and solo-preneurs, retail stores, and entertainment venues.
Food & drink
From casual restaurants, charming cafés, and trendy coffee shops to lounges for late night socializing, Quartier des lumières will offer a range of places to enjoy a quick bite, get freshly prepared take-away, take relaxing lunch breaks from work, or gather with friends and family over a delicious meal.
Fresh produce, fun fashion, the latest technology, and everything you need to keep your household looking great and your office running smoothly will be at your doorstep at Quartier des lumières. This is retail for the way you live today.
See & do
Quartier des lumières will enhance the vibrant life of Downtown Montréal, adding new experiences and landmarks to the city. It is close to iconic sights such as the illuminated Jacques Cartier bridge and Montréal Old Port and next to events like the International Firework Competition and the Quartier des Spectacles.
Quartier des lumières is being designed with the intention to achieve LEED-ND (Neighborhood Development) Platinum certification as a whole. This program is administered by the U.S. Green Building Council. LEED-ND’s standards collectively identify whether a development can be deemed environmentally superior in light of the development’s location and access, its internal pattern and design, and its use of green technology and building techniques. Our LEED-ND neighborhood will have many of the hallmarks of traditional communities: parks and playgrounds, prominent civic buildings, and a variety of stores and commercial activity, among other elements.
Quartier des lumières will be one of only nine neighbourhoods in the world to lay the groundwork for a new international Fitwel(R) Community certification and will be the first Canadian site in the pilot project, which is administered by the Center for Active Design (CFAD) in New York, NY. The new Fitwel(R) Community standard is unique in promoting planning strategies with positive health impacts in seven distinct categories: increasing physical activity, promoting occupant safety, reducing illness and absenteeism, promoting social equity for vulnerable populations, fostering feelings of well-being and improving community health and access to healthy food.
The development team behind Quartier des lumières is delighted to bring this project to life in Montréal, one of just 94 global cities designated as C40 cities. All have committed to taking bold climate action, leading the way towards a healthier and more sustainable future. Our mission is to help Montréal live up to its commitment to deliver on the most ambitious goals of the Paris Agreement at the local level and clean the air we breathe.
