Welcome to this new edition of the Quartier des lumières newsletter!
We’re pleased to share the latest project milestones with you. In the months ahead, new steps will continue to shape this evolving neighbourhood. Follow along with the construction updates and see how this historic site is steadily transforming into a modern, sustainable, and inspiring place to live.
SUMMER 2025
Piling work is being completed along René-Lévesque Boulevard and Alexandre-De-Sève Street.
Excavation is moving forward, supported by the installation of shoring walls to protect nearby streets and infrastructure.
Demolition continues on the north side of the tower, followed by crushing and recycling of recovered concrete to be reused as backfill.
Water cannons remain in place to help minimize dust around the demolition areas.
FALL 2025
In September, piling for the retaining wall on Viger Avenue will begin to complete excavation.
Site backfilling will also get underway this month.
Installation of new infrastructure, starting from Wolfe Street heading east, will launch in the same period.
By November, foundation work will begin for the 13-storey residential tower planned at the corner of Alexandre-De-Sève Street and the new section of De La Gauchetière Street.
EARLY 2026
Construction will reach a major milestone as the new building rises above ground—marking visible progress toward a sustainable, inclusive, and vibrant neighbourhood.
At the same time, underground infrastructure and the development of new streets will continue through summer 2026.
